What is finasteride?Healthylife provides a detaileddirty product guide. This list includes brands that are known to be affected by finasteride. However, what you may not know is that finasteride has been shown to be effective in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in patients with an enlarged prostate. This is the treatment of choice for patients with an enlarged prostate. However, the medicine does not cure BPH, but it can worsen it. Finasteride is a selective inhibitor of 5-alpha-reductase, which is an enzyme in the body that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a hormone that shrinks prostate tissue and can cause BPH. By reducing DHT levels, finasteride helps to reduce the risk of BPH, improve urinary flow and reduce symptoms of BPH. This medication is also used to treat male pattern baldness, and to treat male breast cancer in women.

Propecia contains the active ingredient finasteride. Finasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. Propecia blocks the action of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which is responsible for converting testosterone into a more potent androgen known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the most common male sex hormone, and it is commonly found on the face, chest, jaw, arms, and neck. DHT is also found in hair follicles, prostate glands, and skin. Propecia is used to reduce male pattern hair loss. Propecia is not a hormone and does not treat hair loss. Finasteride may be used for other purposes.
Do not use if you have ever had an allergic reaction to finasteride or any of the ingredients listed at the end of the CMI.
